Development of Technological parks in the Republic of Moldova

Mr. Oleg Rotaru, Vice Minister of Information Development, held a meeting within the Ministry of Information Development. Specialists in the field of information technologies from the ministry and from specialized institutions of the country participated at the meeting.

The main subject discussed within the meeting was the development and promotion of existing technological parks in the Republic of Moldova and building new parks in the field of nanotechnologies and microelectronics.

Mr. Rotaru considers that the development of nanotechnologies through building technological parks is important for information society strengthening in our country. He also mentioned that the Ministry of Information Development participated at the elaboration of Law project on scientific-technological parks, is aware of the experience of other countries in building certain parks and is ready to cooperate with national institutions in the field of development of nanotechnology parks.

Ion Tighinean, Vice-chairman of the Academy of Science of Moldova referred to building parks not only in the filed of nanotechnologies, but also in the field of microelectronics, while there are interesting hardware and software that need to be promoted.

At the same time, Efim Badinter, Director General of JSC “ELIRI” emphasised on the necessity of joining all technological institutions from the country, attracting foreign specialists in this sphere and establishing concrete steps in the process of building and developing nanotechnology parks. Therefore, Mr. Rotaru suggested the formation of a working group to deal with the elaboration of concept on nanotechnologies development step by step. At the same time, a business plan will be created, an administrator will be appointed and the main residents will be selected to bring up ideas of promoting technological parks.

The parties agreed upon the establishment of persons responsible for the elaboration of working plan and upon the establishment of first stages of technological parks development. Specialists from the Technical University of Moldova will take part in the accomplishment of the project tasks. An essential part of this project consists in training personnel and, therefore, it requires the active participation of universities from the country.
